MARC Update: Getting around in Ocean City

Brothers,

We can’t wait to see you in Ocean City in just 11 days! In case you’re wondering how to get around in Ocean City, here are some options:

Ocean City “Beach Bus”

The Beach Bus travels up and down Coastal Highway (the major road that goes up and down the coast in Ocean City) 24 hours a day. During MARC (and all Spring), the bus will travel approximately every 15 minutes from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and every 30 minutes from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. At just $3 to ride all day (exact fare required), it’s the safest, most reliable, and most cost-effective travel option, especially late night. For more information, see the full schedule here.

Drive

Be careful where you park, read the signs carefully to see if you need to pay a meter, or if parking is for patrons of that business only (where you might be subject to towing). And as always — this should go without saying — DO NOT DRIVE if you’ve had anything to drink.

Walk

Probably the cheapest and easiest way to get around if you’re not going far.

Uber

Uber service in Ocean City just started last year, and since April is still considered the “off-season”, Uber may be a bit spotty. Still, it may be an option for some of you.

Taxi

There are taxicabs that service the Ocean City area. A few handy phone numbers:

Lucky Taxi (Fasil – tell him Natalie sent you!) – (443) 373-5042

Taxi Taxi – (410) 289-8989

Ocean City Taxi – (410) 250-6666

Our new Regional Correspondent, Brandie LeBlanc, visited UMES on Sunday and Monday! She met up with Gamma Omicron Brothers at Back Street Grill in Salisbury for dinner on Sunday night, and she attended one of our pledge meetings on Monday afternoon. She shared dinner with Brothers at Caesar’s Pizza Palace in Princess Anne on Monday evening. We had a great time meeting her, and look forward to working with Brandie as we continue plans for MARC in April!

New Phi Delta Chi National Website Now Active!

Brothers,

The National Office has completed a revamping of their website (www.phideltachi.org), so stop on over for a visit and see what it has to offer! Some new features include:

  • Private “Brothers Only” Pages – You should have received a username and password from the National Office. If you haven’t (or lost the e-mail that contained it) click here!
  • Brother Locator – This tool will become more useful as more Brothers complete their profile. You can search for Alumni, Collegiate, or both types of Brothers within a certain geographic area. This is great for Brothers who will be doing rotations across the country and would like to connect with Brothers while out of town or out of state!
  • Alumni Dues – HEY ALUMNI! There’s no excuse anymore! The National Office has made it very simple to pay your alumni dues. New this year is the AAAE Campaign, where the Collegiate Chapter can send one Brother to Grand Council or LDS (depending on the year) for every 15 Alumni who pay their annual dues! What a great easy way to give back to our Collegiate Chapter!
  • Recent and Past issues of The Communicator and e-Communicator – Issues are now only available to view if you are logged in. These are a great way to stay updated on the workings of our Fraternity. (REMINDER: You’ll receive quarterly print issues of The Communicator and monthly e-mail issues of the e-Communicator if you are a current member with your dues paid current!) View those issues here.

Log in today and see what you’ve been missing!
